Product description

Trail runners, kneel before your shoe!

In a nutshell we took our best selling nimbleToes and tweaked the design for runners who love a challenge when going all-terrain, off-off-road. Sharp stones and gravel can dish out their worst while you still enjoy the authentic barefoot feeling. TrailToes are also ultra-light and and the highly breathable mesh allows your feet to breeze along any trail you're willing to travel.

Key Features:
  • Toe Freedom (see below to learn more)
  • 6mm Vibram sole (enjoy the authentic barefoot feeling but still having excellent grip for all terrain and off road conditions)
  • Performance Insole which mimics the anatomical properties of the body’s elastic elements and is ideal for dynamic and reactive sporting activities
  • Highly adaptive lacing system that supports all preferences for fit tension
  • Durable stitched upper with mesh that allows your feet to breath whatever the activity or intensity
  • Vegan leather lined tongue, vamp and shoe collar for ultimate comfort
  • Weight: 195 gram (US 6.5)
  • Tested and approved by Lee Saxby world renowned running and movement coach

These have a big opening for the leg and the strings start pretty "long", for myself the heel didn't stay in place at all, but every step the heel rose first. If these had one loop more for the strings then they would certainly work better. Otherwise high-quality shoes.

The shoemaker can be asked to make one extra lace hole in the shoe. It shouldn't be an expensive operation, and it's definitely worth it, as loose shoes are nasty :-(

Too low for your own foot

Would the tapes be worse than the old model? I had to tighten the straps really tight so they stayed. Otherwise, for the first time on the foot, the straps opened about every 100 meters so there was room for improvement in the straps. Even if enabled, that thing would change. I have to come back to this later when I have really tested these.

Perhaps Nimble’s best shoe for off-road because of the pattern more than NimbleToes (which is also good on trails and more general).

Brent on Oct 18, 2018: "Wanted to get this out there since it may be sometime before I hit a trail with these shoes. As expected the quality appears to be very good. Attention to detail and craftsmanship is obvious. The shoe is well shaped, the sides are rounded instead of just going at a 90 deg angle. The toe box is similar in shape to Vivobarefoot. The opening of the shoe is longer which makes getting into them easy. Plenty of room for a high instep and the lacing systems is cool. The outsole looks like it should do well on the trails. Overall a great fitting shoe and very comfortable while maintaining a good ground feel for the stack height. It's nice to know that Lee Saxby had input to the design of the shoes as he's a biomechanics professional. So a few dings since no shoe I own is perfect. The laces are a tad long and they don't have a really good grip. The tab on the heel is pretty worthless and I suspect JN did this for aesthetics vs function. Even if the tab was functional I wouldn't need to use it. Then finally the performance insole is actually really heavy and it's noticeable, so while I like the feel I don't like the weight of them. My rating is 4.5 out of 5."
